Clare sent every message with its eighth letter one on: TAFELY, GORMING, RECEIVEE. On 11 October the eighth letter is the U of HOUSES, spelt correctly, and on 18 October the E of TWELVE is correct too. The bluff check WEL is in every message, because she gave it up when she was taken. The true check stops on the eleventh.
